ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION SUNDAY FEB. 1 - The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will be immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Feb. 1. The meeting will include presentation of the 2015 budget, sharing of plans for 2015 and other business relevant to the annual meeting.
VISITING SCHOLAR JOHN BELL FEB. 20 & 21 - John Bell is a hymn writer, author and occasional broadcaster on national radio and television who has been honored by the Royal School of Church Music, the Hymn Society in the US and Canada, and the University of Glasgow. Bell sill give a presentation at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. He will also present at 9 & 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Village Presbyterian Church. Tickets are available at kauffmancenter.org or at 816-994-7222.
BUS TO THE KAUFFMAN CENTER FOR VISITING SCHOLAR EVENT - Would you like to have a ride to Kauffman Center on Friday, Feb. 20, to hear John Bell, the 2015 Visiting Scholar? A clean 48-passenger school bus, driven by Village Church member and experienced bus driver, Darryl Bertsch, will take you door-to-door, from the church to Kauffman main entrance. FOSSIL FUEL DIVESTMENT INFO - The Environmental Action Committee will be in Friendship Hall after all services on Sunday, Feb. 15, to provide information about PC(USA)'s two-year study of fossil fuel divestment. Stop by Friendship Hall after services and pick up information about this and other education events at Village on divestment from fossil fuels. YOUTH CHILI COOK-OFF SUNDAY, FEB. 22 - This year the middle school and high school youth will again host their Chili Cook-Off from 5:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in Friendship Hall. All are welcome and encouraged to attend as we sample and vote on the best chili across a variety of categories including traditional beef, vegetarian, spiciestand other. The youth band and the Village Voices will be on hand to entertain and we will also have a variety of desserts. The dinner is only $10 and all proceeds go toward youth mission trips in 2015. Tickets are on sale now and are available von Sunday mornings in Friendship Hall, or contact Rev. Zach Walker in the Youth Office or you can email Zach at firstname.lastname@example.org.
