VILLAGE IN THE CITY: INSPIRING MUSIC FOR AN APRIL EVENING, 7 P.M. THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 26 – The Village Chamber Choir will collaborate with the choirs of Baker University and Benedictine College and organist Dr. Elisa Bickers, all under the direction of Matthew Shepard, associate director of music at Village Church. The program includes Festina Lente for Strings and Harp by Arvo Pärt, Josef Rheinberger’s Concerto in G minor for Orchestra and Organ, concluding with Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Admission is free but tickets are required. If you would like to attend Sunday’s concert and do not have a ticket, come to the Kauffman Center box office at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are being returned all the time, and there will be seats available. The first piece in the concert is 10 minutes long, and latecomers will be seated immediately following its performance as well. Bottom line: no one should stay home because they do not have a ticket.
BLOOD DRIVE APRIL 28 - Village will host a blood drive from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. next Tuesday, April 28, in Rooms 132 and 133. REGISTER NOW FOR CELEBRATION DOMINICANA, MAY 9-11 – Come support the Dominican Republic Medical Partnership, an international mission of Village Church, by participating in Celebration Dominicana on May 9 and 11. A Benefit Dinner “Fiesta” with live music and a silent auction will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Country Club of Leawood. Then the 11th Annual Village Church Golf Classic will start at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, also at Country Club of Leawood. JOB SEARCH CLASS - Could you use some fresh ideas for your job search? The next Career Center series begins Monday, May 11, 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 232. Following that first initial meeting, you will be provided with email lessons focused not only on your job search but on your emotional balance during your job search as well. BREAKFAST & BIBLE WITH BUDDIES: A BIBLE STUDY FOR MEN WITH TOM ARE - Join Rev. Tom Are for a six-week morning study from 7-8 a.m. Fridays, now through May 15. Chef Emily will prepare a hot breakfast ($6), Tom will offer a reflection on passages from his favorite Gospel-The Gospel of Mark. There will be time for discussion as well.
