The Pastoral Care & Counseling Department offers a five-week series called Growing through Grief. Registration is required. Every effort is made to keep the group to no more than 12 individuals so everyone has a chance to participate and get to know each other, creating a more comfortable, relaxed environment. The series runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m. every Wednesday Sept. 10-Oct. 8 in Room 124. Please contact Sandy Perry at 913-671-2327 or sandy.perry@villagepres.org to register or for more information.

We will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 232.  This free class will focus on how to conduct a job search in today's job market. This type of search focuses on how to find the "hidden jobs," the jobs that have not been advertised.  It is an "educational class" that will tell you the exact step-by-step method for your job search.  The class is taught by Dave Flanders and Mary Dunn.  To sign up, please contact Sandy Perry at 913-671-2327 or sandy.perry@villagepres.org.

AGAINST THE WIND SCREENING AND PANEL DISCUSSION SEPT. 15 - The Environmental Action Committee is partnering with the Climate+Energy Project, the Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition and Kansas Interfaith Power & Light to screen the video Against the Wind, which tells the story of the robust growth of the Kansas wind industry despite attacks by the state legislature.  The screening will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 in Room 126 at Village Church.

In the video, correspondent America Ferrera interviews rancher Pete Farrell and wind lobbyist Kimberly Gencur Svaty.  Farrell’s ranch in south-central Kansas is home to one of the state’s first wind farms.  Svaty (owner/principle of Gencur Svaty Public Affairs) is policy and advocacy director for The Wind Coalition.  She is also a long time member of Village Church.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion, which includes Farrell and Svaty, as well as Dr. Johannes Feddema and Rabbi Moti Rieber.  Feddema (a KU geography professor) is a contributor to the International Panel on Climate Change.  Rieber (director of Kansas Interfaith Power & Light) has lobbied and testified before the Kansas Legislature, providing a faith perspective about the economic and ethical benefits of renewable energy.
