STEPHEN MINISTRY CONTINUING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY - These presentations are open to the congregation as well as the public and take place from 5-6 p.m. in Room 228 (Friendship Hall). Please join us as the topics interest you. The next presentation on May 28 will feature Lucy Bloom, director of Faith Based & Community Initiatives/Kansas Department for Children and Families: “Human Trafficking and its Presence in Kansas City."
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING SUNDAY, JUNE 7 - We have great news. The APNC (Associate Pastor Nominating Committee) has been very hard at work and they have identified a candidate to serve as our next associate pastor for Pastoral Care. The session has called a congregational meeting to act on the recommendation of the APNC on Sunday, June 7, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service in Friendship Hall. The candidate will be present in other worship services.
NEW VILLAGE CHURCH CHILD & FAMILY DEVELOPMENT CENTER GROUNDBREAKING - Come join us as we break ground on the new Village Church Children & Family Development Center! The celebration is at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at the Meneilly Center for Mission at 9900 Mission Road.
ISLAM & ECOLOGY PRESENTATION JUNE 1 - The Environmental Action Committee is co-sponsoring a presentation by Dr. Syed Hasan entitled Islam & Ecology from 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 1, in Room 127. Professor Hasan will offer a brief introduction to the faith of Islam and discuss the role of human beings as a trustee of the earth and its environment. He will present Islamic perspectives on ecology and environment, including climate change. Dr. Hasan has been an active leader of the Muslim community in KC and contributes a column in the Faith Section of the KC Star. This event is free and open to everyone. SUMMER SINGS AT VILLAGE CHURCH – We’ve planned four kinds of musical events from June 3-July 22 to make the summertime SING: Sing the Faith –three “hymn sings” for singers of all abilities; Two Song Recitals – performed by wonderful singers – each followed by a reception; Singing 101 – an introduction to singing for those who are unsure about their singing; and SING MASTERWORKS – three opportunities to sing the great choral works you love – open to everyone in the Kansas City musical community.
